Development
Introduction
PDF Clown aims at implementing the PDF specification by Adobe Systems. That is obviously a tough work, so I'm going to focus primarily on its basic functionalities in order to lay solid foundations for more advanced uses.
Being an open project, PDF Clown craves for disparate contributions in order to enrich its vision and thrive. If you have any suggestion, bug report, ... please get in touch!
Code Repository
If you liked to keep yourself up-to-date about the current development of PDF Clown, or to create patches for contributing bug fixes and new implementations to PDF Clown, the Subversion (SVN) repository is available on SourceForge.net as version control system for source code.
Collateral things
Along with the core project, I want to pay attention to PDF-related technologies that could influence PDF Clown evolution.
Derivative formats
The worldwide adoption of PDF has raised the need to address specific industry requirements in order to achieve predictable and consistent results over space (multiple and diverse computational contexts) and time (technology evolution and obsolescence). Several standards have been issued till now, describing specialized subsets of the PDF specification. PDF Clown Project is committed to adhering to them as soon as possible.
- ISO 19005 (aka PDF/A): Document Management - Electronic document file format for long term preservation.
- ISO 15930 (aka PDF/X): Graphic Technology - Prepress digital data exchange using PDF.
